Roxburgh Pool Punawai Ora "Safe Water" new aquatics complex is underway.

The tenacity of community and school pool committee groups is astounding. These hard-working people often hold down full-time employment, have busy families, and still find time to tirelessly fundraise, and liaise with contractors and councils to ensure their community/school pool projects, not only survive but thrive and become key community assets for all to enjoy. The Roxburgh Pool committee's dedication to this aquatics project epitomises, the community and school groups we are fortunate to work with. The Roxburgh Pool committee has worked tirelessly for sixteen years, navigating numerous finance, planning, and design obstacles and successfully fundraised $2.7m to ensure the diggers began construction, on their long-awaited outdoor community pool project.

The faithful 89-year-old community pool has been decommissioned, and the same site cleared to make way for the new community aquatics facility.  The Roxburgh Pool Punawai Ora "Safe Water" aquatics complex will provide the community with a new 25m lane pool, a learn to swim, and a toddler’s pool. Plus, new changing rooms, office space, and a plant room.  “Safe Water”, is important to us all, but when the only bathing alternative for the Roxburgh and Teviot Valley Community is the mighty Clutha (Matu Au) River, New  Zealand’s fastest and most voluminous river, and second longest river, a “Safe Water” space for toddlers to retirees is essential, in the sweltering, Central Otago summer climate, where temperatures regularly reach 30°C plus.

Coombes Aquatics Limited has been involved with this exciting aquatics project for many years, and our scope of work is to complete the pool water services for all three water spaces and plant room installation. Energy-efficient heat pump water heating and a MacBall thermal pool cover system have been included for water and heat sustainability. Bec's chemical controllers for water clarity and the three pools will be finished in the stylish ELBE 10-year watertight membrane in Arctic white,  with complementary black lane markings and polished stainless-steel pool tank and deck finishings for elegance and durability.

Breen Construction Limited and Coombes Aquatics look forward to completing our respective construction and pool water services roles and handing back the finished swimming pool complex to the tenacious Roxburgh Pool Committee, for the enjoyment of the wider Roxburgh and Teviot Valley communities, later in 2023.
